ABOUT THE EVENT
GraFTII Adda inaugurated in October 2009 as a platform to showcase the work of GraFTII members through film discussions, script analysis, theatre or dance performances, music or poetry reading sessions, painting, photography and other artwork exhibitions.
In the last two months, we have screened the National Award winning film ANTARDWAND made by one of our cinematographers Sushil Rajpal and the critically acclaimed film MOHANDAS by cinematographer Mazhar Kamran.
In December, we bring you the black comedy SANKAT CITY written and directed by Pankal Advani. Not only are key crewmembers from FTII, cinematographer Chirantan Das, sound designer Arun Nambiar and editor Hemanti Sarkar but also Gurpal Singh in the cast.
Venue: Foundation Hall 1, Whistling Woods, Film City, Goregaon (East), Mumbai.
Date: Saturday, December 19, 2009
Time: 5 pm to 8 pm.
The screening will be followed by a discussion on the film with the filmmaker and his crew for 30 minutes. Those who want to continue the discussion will reconvene informally at the picturesque Whistling Woods Cafetaria, open until 9 pm.
The contributions towards this event will be Rs.100/- for a general audience, Rs.75/- for GraFTII members and Rs.50/- for students with bona-fide ID cards. These contributions go towards paying the projectionist and for tea/coffee.
Since Whistling Woods has been kind enough to offer us the venue, the event will be open to Whistling Woods students for free.

Sankat City is a wild roller coaster romp through the underbelly of a teeming metropolis, featuring an assortment of zany characters - a car thief, a con woman, gangster, god man, film producer, builder, actor, his duplicate, mechanic, prostitute, chauffeur, hit man, cabbie etc; desperate men and women shadowboxing with the vagaries of chance and fate, whose madcap antics result in their lives getting inextricably entwined with each other, leading to madness and mayhem.
Money, murder, revenge, greed, fear, deceit, not to mention fun-n-frolic and last but not the least, romance, form the ingredients of this pacy masala comic thriller.
