Invisible: the art of Renu Saluja

GraFTII, the alumni body of the FTII has published a book, Invisible: the art of Renu Saluja, as homage to one of our colleagues, the late Renu Saluja (Editing, 1976). One of India's most noted film editors, she entered an all-male field and began from editing the films of her FTII friends to becoming a name to reckon with in the Bombay film industry and also internationally. Such was her influence on her colleagues that when a call for contributions to this book went out, some twenty six people responded sharing their insights and memories.

Invisible: the art of Renu Saluja was released at a film festival held recently in her honour at the Fun Republic in June 2006 called In Focus: The Films of Renu Saluja. Writing in it are directors with whom Renu worked and a range of people associated with her. Richly illustrated with photographs from private collections, this tastefully presented book, was initiated by Praba Mahajan and was visualised by renowned Cinematographer K K Mahajan (Motion Picture Photography, 1966). The book was edited and produced by Chandita Mukherjee (Direction, 1975) and Jethu Mundul (Editing, 1975).

The book costs Rs. 50 and is available with Praba Mahajan at 502 D Valentine, B 3 Opp Tarmat, Off Film City Road, Malad (East), Mumbai - 400 097.
